Special Issue Information

Cancer remains the major cause of death in the world despite a great development of different types of its treatment. Since the currently available treatment options are often accompanied by severe toxicity and side effects, new therapeutic solutions are imperative.

In this regard, several of novel cancer therapeutic agents are derived from natural products, and secondarily, medicinal plants metabolites have demonstrated a great perspective as a source of anticancer and chemopreventive compounds. Composts extracted from edible plants have the advantage of low toxicity profiles and can simultaneously target multiple signaling pathways. Therefore, dietary natural products can provide novel and fascinating preventive and therapeutic options for tumor onset and progression.

Thus, the aim of this Special Issue is to emphasize the most relevant data about the chemopreventive properties of edible plants and fruits well as their extracts/metabolites, highlight their interference with cellular and molecular events underlying cancer biology.
