Special Issue Information

The in-depth integration of artificial intelligence (AI), emerging technologies, and spatial planning is reshaping the concepts and pathways of urban renewal. In China, rapid urbanization and large-scale renewal provide unique opportunities to apply AI approaches for refined governance, public participation, and sustainable development. 
This Special Issue invites contributions that explore how AI, big data, and geospatial technologies improve the quality, efficiency, and equity of urban renewal. We particularly welcome studies that highlight China’s practices and experiences, as well as their broader global implications. Theoretical, methodological, and practical research is encouraged to advance smart urban renewal with both local and international significance.

AI-driven spatial analysis and planning methods
Predictive modeling and evaluation tools for urban renewal
Data-driven public participation and collaborative decision-making
