The 44th Live Lecture of JCBP: Mental and Psychological Issues in Perimenopausal Women: An "Invisible Storm" That Cannot Be Ignored

The Journal of Clinical and Basic Psychosomatics will hold this live lecture titled "Mental and Psychological Issues in Perimenopausal Women: An "Invisible Storm" That Cannot Be Ignored" on Bilibili and the WeChat Channels platform at 20:00 on June 24, 2026 (GMT+08:00).

Perimenopause is a unique physiological transition period in a woman's life cycle. The dramatic fluctuations in hormone levels not only bring about physical symptoms such as hot flashes and insomnia but also more readily induce or exacerbate a range of mental and psychological issues. Emotional and cognitive impairments in perimenopausal women are often underestimated by society, families, and even clinical practitioners, forming an "invisible storm."

This lecture focuses on three core psychiatric and psychological issues commonly encountered during perimenopause: depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, and cognitive decline. Additionally, it will explore comorbid conditions such as somatoform disorders and sleep rhythm disturbances.

The topic further analyzes the biological-psychological-social model of its onset: fluctuations in estrogen affect the function of neurotransmitters such as 5-HT and GABA; the current major challenges include difficulties in clinical identification, low awareness of patients seeking help actively, and insufficient recognition rates among non-psychiatric doctors.

This conference is honored to have invited Professor Huirong Shi, the former Chief of the Gynecology Department at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, a Doctor of Medicine, a Doctoral Supervisor, and a Chief Physician, as the keynote speaker; and Professor Lianqing Sun, the Chief of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, a Chief Physician, and a Master's Supervisor, as the host. We sincerely welcome scholars from all fields to actively participate in this academic live lecture.
