Effects of ecological dominance of chain-leading enterprises on supply chain innovation performance: The mediating role of supply chain resilience
Growing supply chain volatility highlights the need for chain-leading enterprises to drive industrial collaborative innovation and upgrading. This study investigates how the ecological dominance of chain-leading enterprises affects supply chain innovation performance through three dimensions of ecological dominance: development leadership, industrial integration, and industrial responsibility. Additionally, the capability type dimension of supply chain resilience is introduced to explore its mediating role in the relationship between the ecological dominance of chain-leading enterprises and supply chain innovation performance. Data from 219 valid samples revealed that each dimension of chain-leading enterprises’ ecological dominance has a significant positive effect on supply chain innovation performance. Supply chain resilience has a significant positive effect on innovation performance and plays a partial mediating role between chain-leading enterprises’ ecological dominance and supply chain innovation performance. The conclusions provide new perspectives on the mechanisms underlying ecological dominance and enrich the research on antecedents of supply chain innovation performance. However, this study has limitations: the adoption of cross-sectional data fails to fully reflect the dynamic interaction of variables across different enterprise development stages; the dimensional structure of chain-leading enterprises’ecological dominance remains controversial, and this study’s division needs further verification; due to the difficulty in obtaining data and the scarcity of existing quantitative research, related concepts and data collection rely more on qualitative assessments and lack rigorous quantitative validation.
